Eric Schwamberger, our CMO and one of our partners, had the great opportunity to speak at Social Media Week last week about the significance of social listening and analysis in marketing today.  He highlighted that “social media monitoring allows us to ask how, where, and why”. Rather than just taking a surface level look at what people are talking about, social listening lets us dig deeper into consumer behavior and see how consumers really feel.

Other speakers during the Social Media Week session included Neta Yoffe from Digimind and Michael Hayworth, the VP of North America at Woody Media.

Eric Schwamberger & The Growing Importance of Mobile Video In 2016

Last week, our very own Eric Schwamberger, one of Tenthwave’s partners and CMO, spoke at HSMAI’s Digital Marketing Strategy Conference about the important role that mobile video will play in 2016. Eric highlighted that this year it will be more vital than ever for marketers to “not only have to consider the importance of the content we are creating but also how that content will be served to our consumer—in this case on mobile.”

Eric’s session, “Coming To A Small Screen Near You: Mobile Video in 2016”, stressed that mobile trends will extend farther than just smartphones or tablets and will eventually form a “mobile web” where people can effortlessly move from device to device.  He also shared best practices of mobile video including “shorter is better” and “be engaging but never intrusive”.

Other speakers at the conference included Lalia Rach, Partner and Founder of Rach Enterprises, Shaun Aukland, Senior Account Executive at Google, and Anil Aggarwal, CEO of Milestone Internet Marketing.

Last week, Tenthwave was fortunate enough to host the Best of Branded Content Marketing Global Edition book launch at our New York office.  In collaboration with the social listening company Talkwalker, it was a fun evening with fantastic examples of branded content from the past year as well as a panel featuring branded content experts from various agencies and companies.

Eric Schwamberger, one of our partners and Chief Marketing & Content Officer, kicked off the evening and highlighted the importance of branded content in today’s advertising and marketing world.  Eric was followed by an interactive social listening demo from Talkwalker’s North American CEO, Todd Grossman.

Our VP of Strategy, Gunny Scarfo, then gave a short presentation and discussed the steps that it takes to unearth actionable cultural insights to drive success in marketing. Afterwards Edition Digital took the floor to show off their digital publishing platform, as well as showing a preview of the Best of Branded Content Marketing Global Edition.

Mike Wiese, the Head of Entertainment & Programming at J. Walter Thompson, also gave a short speech just before our panel got under way.  Stephen Lepitak, Editor of The Drum, led the panel and started the discussion on a humorous note with a video from South Park where people are transformed into living, breathing ads.  A lively panel ensued with great back and forth from each of our panelists: Mike Wiese, David Berkowitz, CMO of MRY, Jason Krebs, Head of Sales at Maker Studios, Stacy Martinet, CMO of Mashable, Tim Piper, Writer & Director at Piro

From Martinet’s insight that “branded content is a sister to advertising” to Krebs’ advice that brands shouldn’t force themselves upon influencers to “compromise their own voice”, our panel showcased the best recommendations for branded content. One of the most memorable moments of the evening was after David Berkowitz’s branded content example from The Suitsy, a business suit onesie. Much to the surprise of the rest of the panel and attendees, Berkowitz then unzipped his own suit and revealed that he was actually wearing a Suitsy right then and there.

All in all, the event was a great success and we hope all attendees had a wonderful time.  Thank you again to Talkwalker and Edition Digital for their demos and to our great panelists for sparking some great debates. Looking forward to more events with you all in the future!

Best of Branded Content Marketing: NYC Book Launch

Best of Branded Content Marketing (BOBCM) is very excited to announce the exclusive New York launch of its third international ebook, Best of Branded Content Marketing 2015: Global Edition. 

We (Tenthwave) will be hosting the private BOBCM book launch on Thursday, 3rd December 2015 from 6 - 8pm at our New York offices.   The annual collaboration highlights the latest thinking and work from 100+ branded content experts across the globe and was produced through a partnership with the Branded Content Marketing Association (BCMA) and supported by the D&AD, among other international associations. 

The launch will start with an introduction and welcome by Tenthwave’s Eric Schwamberger, and will be followed by a viewing of a short film that highlights some of the excellent work being showcased this year, interviews with BOBCM contributors, and a display on Edition Digital‘s smart digital publishing platform.

There will also be a panel discussion about key and emerging topics from the book. The following contributors will be participating in the panel, with more to be announced soon:

Eric Schwamberger Invited to Join BCMA Global Council

We’re pleased to announce that one of our partners, Eric Schwamberger, has been invited to join the Branded Content Marketing Association's (BCMA) Global Council as an Affiliate Partner.  This invitation recognizes Tenthwave’s support of the association in the U.S.A. and the U.K., as well as their support of the Best of Branded Content Marketing (BOBCM) e-book and event portfolio.  Justin Kirby, Tenthwave’s VP of Strategic Content Marketing, curates both the e-book and portfolio in partnership with the BCMA.

 

Additionally, in the third volume of BOBCM, Eric will contribute a feature on being Customer Obsessed, which will help summarize the key insights and thoughts from Tenthwave’s upcoming Customer Obsessed book.  His feature will also include a case study of our award winning work for Duncan Hines.  The third volume of the annual 150-page journal will launch in November 2015 in New York.
